Championing Supplier Diversity

In May 2018, more than 70 diverse suppliers gathered at Altria's Headquarters in Richmond to connect, learn and network as part of Altria’s longstanding commitment to Supplier Diversity and Inclusion.
The half-day event organized by the Procurement Department of Altria Client Services, in collaboration with the Women Presidents' Educational Organization (WPEO) and the Carolinas-VA Minority Supplier Development Council (CVMSDC), included brief presentations by Altria leaders; a business fair for suppliers to network and share what they do; and a matchmaking session to specifically connect diverse suppliers with Altria and other large organizations on potential procurement opportunities.

"When you think about our strategy to maximize the core and innovate for the future, innovation plays a role in both aspects… it's important to have a diverse set of suppliers, a diverse employee base, to help us think about things in a different way.
– Sal Mancuso, SVP, Finance and Procurement

At Altria, our Supplier Diversity & Inclusion program allows women, minority, veteran, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender businesses to help us generate new ideas and different perspectives. The program includes sponsorship of events and educational programs for diverse businesses; long-term utilization and spending goals; and procurement tools and resources to promote the use of diverse suppliers. Having a diverse supplier base that resembles our adult consumers, culture and communities is critical to our future success.
If you are a certified minority, woman, veteran, or LGBT-owned supplier who may be interested in doing business with Altria, consider registering with our Supplier D&I Program. Learn more about Supply Chain Responsibility at Altria here.
