    Altria’s commitment to advancing diversity & inclusion in the workplace was reinforced in July when Marty Barrington, Chairman, CEO and President, Altria Group, joined the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion network and signed its pledge. With more than 250 companies representing nearly 70 industries across all 50 states, the company has committed to:
    • cultivate a culture where difficult and sometimes complex conversations about diversity & inclusion can take place;
    • continue to implement unconscious bias training and education; and
    • share best (and unsuccessful) practices to benefit, and learn from, other companies.​
     
    Our Peop​le 
     
    The commitment to diversity is supported by all levels within the Altria family of companies. Additionally, an Executive Diversity Council, led by our CEO,​ made up of rotating employees from differing areas, levels, and tenure, provides strategic direction and leadership to promote an inclusive workplace.
     
    Mentoring Program
     
    Employees of the Altria family of companies have the opportunity to participate in a formal mentoring program. The purpose of the program is to support career and leadership development. This program is integrated with technology, which matches mentors and mentees based on interests, goals, and skills, to ensure both are given the best opportunity to expand their knowledge and development.
     
     
    Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
     
    ERGs at Altria Group enhance career development, build awareness of unique perspectives and cultures, increase employee engagement, and serve as a resource to the company.  Some of our ERGs include:
     
     
     
    Our Communities
     
    The Altria family of companies has a long history of supporting the communities in which we live and work. Over the past ten years, we have contributed over $1.1 billion in cash and in-kind donations. Our areas of focus include:

    Success360: Supports youth education and positive development. A focus of this organization is to help youth serving organizations work together to better support the community in and out of school.
     
    Arts and Culture: We have been a long supporter of the arts and culture initiatives within the Richmond, VA and Washington D.C. areas. Investing in cultural attractions and the arts brings positive attention to our communities and makes them a better place to live.
     
    Other Focused Giving: Through volunteerism and an employee giving fund, we support a variety of nonprofit causes to include: senior services, hunger relief, homelessness, domestic violence, natural disaster relief and military and veteran support.
