Altria Group’s compliance program starts with our Mission and Values. It is structured to meet the U.S. Federal Sentencing Guidelines using Altria’s Standards for Compliance & Integrity Programs.

Altria and its companies provide all employees compliance guidance with a Code of Conduct, clear company policies and compliance training matched to their job responsibilities.


Code of Conduct & Other Compliance Guidance

Code of Conduct

The Altria Code of Conduct provides guidance in support of our Mission & Values. It establishes the basic compliance principles for our businesses, requires employees to speak up if they are aware of potential wrongdoing and communicates a commitment to protect employees who do so.

In 2011, Altria launched a refreshed Code of Conduct. The refreshed Code covers Altria’s key risk areas while integrating Altria’s Mission & Values which help guide employee behavior. Employees can access the Code online to find relevant policies and other compliance resources.

All employees are required to receive training on the Code of Conduct. The training helps employees understand how the Code fits into the overall Altria Compliance & Integrity Program, what information is available in the Code and how to use the Code in decision-making. As part of the training, employees are asked to acknowledge their commitment to follow the Code.

Policy Guidance

In addition, Altria and each of its companies provide their employees with more detailed policies on legal, regulatory and business requirements.

Employees can access these policies through an easy-to-use, online repository. They are expected to read, become familiar with, and comply with both the Code and the company policies that are relevant to their individual roles.
