U.S. Political Contributions

Altria Group and its companies are proud of their commitment to the political process on behalf of our employees and shareholders. We are engaged at the federal, state and local levels to educate stakeholders about the breadth and depth of our business issues.

Our corporation's Political Action Committee (PAC) was established in 1978. Today it is called Altriapac, and it is strictly voluntary and non-partisan. The PAC provides Altria Group and its operating companies' employees and shareholders with the opportunity to support their companies' legislative agenda and make their voices heard on issues that are important to the future of our businesses and our companies' stakeholders.

In addition, where legally permissible, Altria Group's companies make state and local political contributions.  Political contributions made by any Altria company in the United States must be disclosed by the contributor, the recipient, or both, under state and local campaign finance laws and in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code.

Altriapac's disclosure reports on U.S. federal contributions are available to the public and can be found by visiting the Federal Election Commission's Web site.

For information on a specific state, visit The National Conference of State Legislatures, which provides links to reports that have been filed with state governments. Or consult State and Local Government on the Net, a directory of official state, county and city government Web sites.
