At Altria, I'm responsible for the marketing compliance review process which means I work closely with our brand and law teams to review any marketing materials for our adult tobacco consumers. We focus on getting the right messaging to the right adult tobacco consumers and avoiding any unintended audiences, especially youth.
To do this, we train employees in brand and supporting functions on all of our marketing compliance policies. Every new person coming into marketing, no matter how long they've been with the company, gets trained within their first two weeks on the job. But, I like to say our employees are trained daily. Every time I’m working with an employee, I consider that a training opportunity. The best part of my job is that I'm a strategic thinking partner with the brand. I don't just call "balls and strikes" and tell them what they can and can't do. I like to help them responsibly get to their end goal.
Ultimately, I think sometimes we tend to go above and beyond the minimum that's required, and I think that's a good thing. We take the higher ground and that makes me proud to work at this company.
