Altria employees are community-minded and passionate about serving others. Despite hardship brought on by the pandemic and the abundant stress of 2020, many employees were still seeking ways to lend a hand to their neighbors in need. Altria supports the American Red Cross with a $500,000 annual commitment to their Disaster Giving Program, which enables them to provide food, shelter and aid to those impacted by severe weather events. Additionally, we encourage our employees to support the American Red Cross through the Altria Contributing Together (act) program.
When Middle Tennessee was hit overnight with severe storms and tornados, including at least one that touched down near our USSTC Manufacturing Facility in the spring of 2020, Altria employees quickly rallied to send support to affected employees, their families and the Tennessee community. As a result, Altria distributed $50,000 of our annual commitment to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts.
Our Consumer Connections Center, the customer service hub for our branded products, was hit hard by winter storms and freezing conditions in Texas in February of 2021. In order to support our customer service agents during this time, our Customer Care department sent physical gift baskets with helpful items to show support of the customer service leaders who take care of our adult consumers day after day.
